Painful Commerce
by Ted Morrissey
Web of wicked form tangles to our lives,
Returning us in silken waves to the core;
While painful commerce coldly thrives.
Benumbed but ever watchful I behave,
Believing threads through space do blindly bore;
Web of wicked form tangles to our lives.
Mindful still the embered emotion survives,
I travel sticky strands arriving as before;
While painful commerce coldly thrives.
Heart knows the light and laughter it craves,
While all surrogates prove light and poor;
Web of wicked form tangles to our lives.
Engines search space with cyber knives,
Bleeding old wounds yet bloody and sore;
While painful commerce coldly thrives.
Coaled will remains while the soul raves
Against black strands—blanched world:
Web of wicked form tangles to our lives,
While painful commerce coldly thrives.
