The god of creation

by Patricia George

particles formed from the imagination

of the thinker’s mind out of the

emptiness of space

gathering particles into masses he caused

a friction much like a camper

starting a fire with two pieces of wood

a spark was created

exciting it to breath

manipulating new ideas into a skin

he ordered a shell for the new life

and the gods saw that it was good

      Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

by Patricia George

Beginning as a tuber planted
In black moist garden soil
A morsel of an idea was
Growing in my mind
Not yet manifest
But enough to save me for now
From drowning in the brown gravy
River of boredom
