As If

by Thomas Piekarski

As if nobody or nothing would ever care,

ocean, man, moon, eternity oblivious.

As if some shiny little mite from nowhere

breached dusk’s curtain, a dawning corona.

As if icy spring water that trickles through

veins of stone paves the road home.

As if underlying meaning is the proviso

for progressing along the plain of nothing.

As if turtle and lamb had taught each other

to exist as one specie and in one mind.
